 The Present Life of BLAM...

We are the Brooke - Lincoln - Aden and Marc Gilchrist Family.

We are living in Utah while Marc attends BYU. He is getting a Master of Social Work degree and next April he will be done. Then... who knows!

Brooke graduated from Dental Hygiene school a year ago and now works one day a week. The rest of the time she is with our two boys Aden 4 years and Lincoln who is almost 1 year old. We enjoy Utah but miss our family and friends in Idaho and Canada.

That's right!  We've been home about 6 days now and I'm finally getting around to posting about our trip.  We went to the Mayan Riveria for a week during the week of American Thanksgiving.  We left our kids in the great care of my older sister and headed off.  Marc's parents were already there and we invited my mom to come with us also.  Since it's cheaper to go as a couple, she invited my older brother to come with her.  For the most part, we're glad he came :) J/K Ryan.  It was a pretty lazy week.  We laid on the beach, played some beach volleyball, a little frisbee in the pool, watched a few good shows at the resort and we had our first experience scuba diving in the ocean.  On Thanksgiving Day, we did two dives in a small town called Akumal.  The water was perfect.  We even saw a few sea turtles.  We went down about 90 feet.  We also went parasailing.  I thought it would be scary being up 300 feet but it's actually really laid back.  It was a great break but it's been a crazy week trying to catch up.  By the time we got... Well, we've been up to having lots of fun lately but we've been really slow in getting things posted.  On Nov. 1st, we headed up to Pleasant Grove with friends, the Turleys, the Heehaw farms.  We rode down a giant hay slide, an animal train, got lost in the corn maze, shot ears of corn with a gun type thing, the kids played in a corn box (like a sand box but with corn instead.)  It was a fun Saturday.  Then, just last night we attended New Kids on the Block.  Marc loved loved them as an 11 year old and he still has the shirt to prove it.  He proudly wore it last night.  I remember playing with the Barbies of New Kids so I didn't really know any of the songs but a concert's a concert and it was fun!  We started off the night with dinner at the most romantic spot ever, Denny's (hopefully you can hear the sarcasm in my voice) but it was the fastest place to go to and it was good actually.

The last pictures are of today where Aden decided to draw the entire family-he drew, glued and stuck the stickers on all by... (click here to read the rest)

Well, I haven't downloaded the pictures yet but I will.  We headed down to Layton this weekend.  My dad was up from Boise visiting Traci's baby in the NICU in Ogden so he asked if we'd meet him and go swimming at his hotel.  We don't get to see him very often we headed up and Aden and Lincoln loved it-sleeping in hotel, eating out, swimming.  It was great.  Then, we headed up to Logan to attend my cousin Hailey's reception.  That was fun also.  Aden got to see his cousins-which he loved and I got to see my sister, mom and cousin Mandy.  It was so nice to see everyone.  Why is it someone has to get married or die for us to get together?  Silly.

We saw Dan and Traci on Friday in Layton also. They came up for dinner with dad and it may be there last week doing anything without baby Jax in tow.  If all goes well this week, he'll be coming home next week.  Traci said he's 6 lb 1 oz and doing great.  That's really good news since he wasn't even due until Dec. 6th.

Marc and I are headed to Mexico in about 12 days... (click here to read the rest)

Happy Halloween!  We had a busy Halloween with lots of trick or treating, craving pumpkins-did that a few days before, and some tired kids at the end of the night.  We were a pirate family and both Aden and Lincoln had a blast trick or treating.  We did the mall trick or treating and then we headed out for the first time this year with some friends, the Fletchers and Turlys, to go around house to house.  It was really fun but by the end, we had both boys in the stroller and Aden did not want to go to anymore houses!  He made a great pirate with hook and all and Lincoln had no problem trick or treating for candy.  It was fun night.  Enjoy the pictures!

We headed out, amidst a downpour and attempted to take some pictures of our boys for Christmas cards.  We were supposed to have family pics on Saturday but it rained way too much for we tried for the boys on Sunday.  At first, we got poured on but then things cleared up and we were able to get some good shots.  Some of them, I've played with with our picture program, others not yet but I'm learning and I think I've discovered a fun new hobby. :)  Enjoy!  We'll post family pics when we get them taken, hopefully next week.

We weren't quite ready for it but two nights ago, Lincoln decided it was time to sleep in a big boy bed!  He's only 17 months.  I asked him to ready for bed(grab his blanket and teddy bear), he grabbed them and climbed up into the bottom bunk (Aden's bed).  I thought, okay, let's try this.  Well, he was on the floor in the morning but not from falling out because there was no crying-just from him getting out of bed and falling asleep on the floor.  But last night he stayed in his bed all night and also had his nap today and yesterday in bed without falling out or getting out of bed.  I had to go buy a safety rail for the top bunk and Aden headed up there last night.  He felt pretty big.  We thought it would free up some room in the boys' room but we had alot of storage on the top bunk and Lincoln was sleeping in a pack and play so really, it freed up no room by the time we moved all the tupperware bins but it's exciting to have him a bed.  It's also nice to have him a bed, no pacifier(got... Today was General Conference and we were very excited tolearn that there will be temple built in Calgary!  Yeah for Calgary! Today was also the day that we were supposed to have our family picturestaken at 4pm and hopefully be done in time for Marc to make it to Priesthoodsession.  Well, it rained cats anddogs ALL DAY!  So, we had to cancelour pictures for another day but we did get our Halloween costumes today.

We will be.drumroll please..a pirate family! J At first, this year Aden wanted again to be a train conductor but lately we've been reading a fewpirates books and he's decided that since pirates are rough and tough, theymust get the most candy so he wants to be whatever will get him the most candy!  Smart kid.  He also got to go on his first field trip with preschool onFriday.  They headed off to Hee Hawfarms where they saw pigs, got to go on a hayride-he was disappointed a traindidn't pull them around-just a tractor. But he did think he was really cool to ride a big yellow school bus forthe first...
